KRX and FactSet Launch a Series of Thematic Indices

Written by John Smith | Jul 25, 2022 1:00:00 PM

The Korea Exchange (KRX) and FactSet (NYSE:FDS) (NASDAQ:FDS), a global provider of integrated financial information, analytical applications, and industry-leading services, today announced the launch of a series of co-branded thematic indices to provide investors with access to promising themes with long-term growth potential.

KRX and FactSet have developed the indices through close collaboration, which use FactSet’s market-leading industry classification, RBICS (Revere Business Industry Classification System), to capture companies’ key revenue drivers from their primary and ancillary business segments. The indices will be used as benchmarks for megatrends and underlyings for financial products, making them accessible investment opportunities through passive funds, such as index mutual funds or exchange traded funds (ETF).

The series currently consists of four thematic indices that enable investors to track some of today’s most exciting and innovative themes:

  • KRX FactSet Mobility Innovator Index
  • KRX FactSet Digital Healthcare Index
  • KRX FactSet Digital Infrastructure Index
  • KRX FactSet Next Generation Energy Index

KRX and FactSet are working on further collaboration to identify and launch additional indices that capture new and disruptive megatrends based on feedback from leading Korean asset managers.

Jeremy Zhou, Head of Index Solutions at FactSet, said, “As KRX is the sole security exchange in Korea and the index provider of major Korean benchmarks, we are delighted to be working together to develop more innovative indices for Korean investors. Today’s announcement represents an exciting milestone for FactSet, and together with KRX, we look forward to meeting the growing demand for thematic investable products in Korea.”

Myung-Woo Park, Head of Index Business at KRX, said, “We are pleased to collaborate with FactSet to launch the thematic index series which focus on future strategic industries. KRX will continue our role as a leading index provider in Asia, by identifying themes which require strategic support for long-term growth, going beyond merely seeking gains in the short term.”
